B/R's College Football Weekly Awards: Week 9

College football fans love chaos and oddities. This week's slate didn't feature a lot of chaos. The writer is looking forward to the weirdness.

Kansas State beat Oklahoma State 48-0. It was the first 40-point shutout loss for an AP Top 10 team since 1968. Will Howard threw for 296 yards and Deuce Vaughn ran for 158. The Wildcats improved to 6-2 on the year and can force a rematch in the Big 12 Championship Game.

J.T. Tuimoloau had a spectacular game for Ohio State against Penn State. He made six tackles, three takedowns for loss with two sacks and two interceptions.

Georgia's tight end Brock Bowers caught a lucky break in the victory over Florida. Georgia took a 21-0 lead and eventually won 42-20.

Wake Forest lost 48-21 to Louisville on Saturday. The Deacs had five turnovers in seven previous games this season. They had eight in the third quarter alone. Sam Hartman threw four interceptions against Wisconsin in 2020 postseason.

Stanford lost to UCLA. Ryan Sanborn had a 23-yard punt that went 11 yards beyond the line of scrimmage and 12 yards to the other side. He dropped the ball before it bounced back into his hands.

Missouri beat No. 25 South Carolina on Saturday. It's a win for Eli Drinkwitz, who started in 2020. He's done a good job so far. The team has a long way to go, but Saturday's win is a small step in the right direction.

Miami and Virginia went to overtime and Miami won 14-12. Austin Aune, 29, is the oldest starting quarterback in college football. He led North Texas to a 40-13 victory at Western Kentucky. Bryson Barnes, a walk-on quarterback, led Utah to victory over Washington State 21-17. The Utes are in contention for the Pac-10 championship.

No. 2 Tennessee plays No. 1 Georgia. No 6 Alabama plays at No 15 LSU. Clemson plays Notre Dame. Oregon State plays Washington. The winner of the game will play the winner in the SEC Championship Game. The loser will be eliminated from the College Football Playoff.
