Bruins vs Oilers Prediction, Stream, Odds and Picks, Feb 27

The top two goal scorers in the NHL will share the same ice Monday when the Boston Bruins’ road trip continues to Edmonton, where they will take on the Oilers.

Connor McDavid of the Oilers and David Pastrnak of the Bruins have combined for 90 goals and both have a shot at reaching the 60-goal mark this season.

The NHL hasn’t seen two 60-goal scorers in the same season since 1995-96, and 1992-93 was the last season there were more than two players with 60 goals.

The Oilers, who are third in the Pacific Division, will face a serious threat to their playoff hopes in the next two weeks as they play two games each against the Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets, followed by games against Dallas and Seattle.

“It’s going to be a good test, three really good teams”, Edmonton center Leon Draisaitl, who is seventh in the NHL with 36 goals and second to McDavid (113 points) with 88 points, told the media. “They’re going to demand our best“.

The Bruins put a rough stretch of four losses in five games in late January and early February behind them with six straight wins, including a pair on this road trip.

Boston Bruins improved to 30-0-3 when scoring first in a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks Saturday, the fifth-longest such point streak behind Montreal’s 43 games in 1977-78.

Let’s check the latest NHL news, stats, injury reports, and NHL lines for Bruins vs Oilers. We’ve got plenty of NHL picks for you to consider.

Oilers Need to Solve Defensive Woes

The Oilers’ defense has hit a rough patch, allowing 28 goals in five losses since Feb. 12, with eight of the goals coming on the penalty kill.

The offense nearly bailed them out in four of those games, going to a shootout twice and overtime once while also overcoming a four-goal deficit vs. Columbus on Saturday.

“Not good enough. I know we made it a game, mounted a comeback and we had some people that made some good efforts, but not enough”, Edmonton Oilers head coach Ed Woodcroft told the media after the 6-5 loss to Columbus. “Too many passengers for us, and in the end, not detailed enough. We were made to pay”.

Facing the Bruins, who are third in the league with 3.74 goals per game, could mean more misery for the Oilers, who have allowed 3.60 goals per game in February.

Hathaway, Orlov Debut for Bruins

Lost behind Linus Ullmark becoming the first Boston goalie to score a goal, were the debuts of newly-acquired players Garnet Hathaway and Dmitry Orlov.

Neither player factored on the score sheet, but both contributed a pair of hits to the win over the Canucks in their first game since coming over from the Washington Capitals.

Hathaway played right wing on the fourth line, while Orlov, a natural left-handed defenseman, played on the right side in the third pairing with Derek Forbort.

“I’m really impressed with Hathaway’s details and penalty killing and it seems like he understands our D-zone already”, Boston head coach Jim Montgomery told the media. “Orlove made some special plays, special passes on the breakout”.

Orlov’s addition gives the Bruins seven defensemen, which is a good problem for the team but bad for whichever player has to sit after contributing to what has been a record season thus far. Connor Clifton was the odd man out on Saturday.

Bruins vs Oilers Game Injuries

The Bruins, who lead the series 50-34-7, have split the last six games with the Oilers.
