Oilers Need to Solve Defensive Woes

The Oilers’ defense has hit a rough patch, allowing 28 goals in five losses since Feb. 12, with eight of the goals coming on the penalty kill.

Hathaway played right wing on the fourth line, while Orlov, a natural left-handed defenseman, played on the right side in the third pairing with Derek Forbort.

“I’m really impressed with Hathaway’s details and penalty killing and it seems like he understands our D-zone already”, Boston head coach Jim Montgomery told the media. “Orlove made some special plays, special passes on the breakout”.

Orlov’s addition gives the Bruins seven defensemen, which is a good problem for the team but bad for whichever player has to sit after contributing to what has been a record season thus far. Connor Clifton was the odd man out on Saturday.
