Cheltenham Festival 2023 results live: Winners, race updates and best bets for day 2

It was a good day for favourite-backers at Cheltenham on Tuesday, and we witnessed a performance for the ages from Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle as well as the perfect farewell for Honeysuckle in the Mares'.

Beleaguered bookmakers will try to pick themselves off the canvas today, with the Champion Chase at 3.30pm looking a three-way battle between last year's winner Energumene, Tingle Creek winner Edwardstone and Edituer Du Gite, who upset the big two in the Clarence House Chase at Cheltenham in January.

We begin with the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle, in which Paul Nicholls has one of his best chances of the week with Challow winner Hermes Allen. Confidence has been shaken in the strength of English hurdlers though, with the first eight home in yesterday's Supreme all Irish. Hermes Allen's stable-mate Tahmuras disappointed in that race. The hot favourite is Willie Mullins' Impaire Et Passe, who is still very unexposed by did win a Grade Two by six-and-a-half lengths at Punchestown in January.

Another Irish horse arriving with legions of backers is Gerri Colombe in the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase following his impressive win at Sandown. The race looks quite open behind the Gordon Elliott horse but those with faith in Festival form will be tempted by winner of last year's Ballymore Sir Gerhard.

The Coral Cup at 2.50pm sees 26 go to post for a race which is always an exciting betting heat, while Gordon Elliott will look to continue his dominance in the Cross Country at 4.50pm. He has the two strongest runners with Delta Work, who denied Tiger Roll the fairytale finish to his career in this race last year, and Galvin who has reportedly been impressive in his work back home. After that is the Grand Annual and the Champion Bumper, the week's only flat race. Good luck all!
