Cheltenham Festival 2023 tips: Three horses we like at decent odds

The 2023 Cheltenham Festival is just three weeks away and things are really starting to get exciting.

The majority of horses have now had their last runs ahead of the meeting and trainers will just be hoping there are no last minute injuries picked up at home.

We've picked out three horses that we believe are currently overpriced for their respective races at Prestbury Park:

Gentleman De Mee - Champion Chase - Wednesday 10/1

The betting for the Champion Chase almost suggests that the day two feature is a two-horse race, but that is far from the case.

Energumene is narrowly favourite with most betting firms ahead of Edwardstone, who last year's winner finished behind on Trials Day at Cheltenham last month in a race won by Editeur Du Gite by a head.

But further down the betting is Gentleman De Mee, who bolted up by seven lengths in the Ladbrokes Dublin Chase at the Dublin Racing Festival.

He also defeated Edwardstone by four and a half lengths at Aintree last year. He is clearly a spring horse and at the age of seven, he is the youngest horse in the race, with two years on many of his rivals.

Although Editeur Du Gite's front-running tactics could be a worry for this usual prominent runner, at 8/1 generally and available at 10s, he looks a super bet on the Wednesday.

A Dream To Share - Champion Bumper - Wednesday 6/1

Another winner at the Dublin Racing Festival, A Dream To Share has since been purchased by JP McManus, whose horse Fact To File he defeated in the Grade 2 bumper at Leopardstown.

As always, Willie Mullins has an extremely strong-looking team for the Champion Bumper, but it could be another Irish trainer in 85-year-old John Kiely who sees his runner land the final race on day two this year.

Previously owned by RTE's Brian Gleeson, the presenter's son gave A Dream To Share a brilliant ride to win at Leopardstown where the five-year-old really impressed.

Although he is the second favourite for the Champion Bumper, he is still available at 6/1, which looks decent value and he is surely worth an each-way punt.

Envoi Allen - Ryanair Chase - Thursday 12/1

Shishkin jumped to the head of the market for the Ryanair following his emphatic victory in the Ascot Chase last weekend and he now looks like the one they all have to beat on March 16.

That victory came just days after Allaho, who has won the race for the last two years, was ruled out of this year's renewal due to an abdominal bleed.

But Cheveley Park Stud could still have a lively contender for the race in Envoi Allen.

The 2020 Ballymore winner has failed to live up to his hype since going chasing, but impressed when landing the Grade 1 Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal in early November.

He disappointed in the King George at Kempton since, but could run a big race if his connections opt for the Ryanair over the Gold Cup, which he also has an entry for.
