Like the 2019 edition of the tournament, the 2023 World Cup will be played in a round-robin format. A total of 10 participants — India, England, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Netherlands — will play nine matches each in the league stage.

The top four sides will qualify for the semi-finals, with the winners of each of those two matches playing in the final on November 19 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
