Darters can earn money for charity during World Matchplay

Betting firm Betfred has launched a promotion where players can earn money during the World Matchplay for the Macmillan Cancer Support, a cancer foundation.

For every 180 score thrown during the regular World Matchplay as well as the women's edition, 50 pounds will be transferred to charity. If more than 350 maximum scores are thrown, a bonus of 10,000 pounds will follow. Also, some World Matchplay participants will also participate in a nine-dart challenge, where for every point scored, 1 pound will be added to the total proceeds.

Last year there was a similar initiative by the tournament sponsor. Then the proceeds were a whopping £35,428.
