Dream Central gives Schenectady native Fazzone a dream ride in Suzie O'Cain (with 11 photos)

Dream Central won the Suzie O'Cain stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the turf at Saratoga Springs on Wednesday. Eddie Fazzone's son died three years ago this week. Suzy O’Cains died in January following a bout with breast cancer. Eddie and Lisa Fazza run Eddie's Seafood Restaurant in Sar atoga. They have been active in fund-raising for people recovering from substance abuse. The Fazazes' son, Edward Fzones III, will be 33 on July 14, 2019.

Dream Central, trained by Gary Sciacca and owned by Eddie F’s Racing, ridden by Jose Lezcano, won the inaugural Suzie O”Cain Stakes. Eddie's Racing owner EddieFazzone was happy with the performance of his horse. The winner was She's a Mia, a trained mare ridden in the race by Christophe Clement. The race was won by Dream Central. It was the first race of the Suzies O'Cains. DreamCentral went off at 9-1. She's A Mia was trained and ridden. by Joel Rosario.

Bernard Dalton's horse Down Royal won the A.P. Smithwick steeplechase stakes by a neck over Chief Justice. It was the first race on the card. DownRoyal is owned by Kate Dalton and her husband Bernard. Kate's other horse Diplomat won a Grade I race at Saratoga. The trainer used to gallop at the Sar atoga for 10-15 years for Kiaran McLaughlin. She used a clock in her head. Her horse was coming around the far turn and moving forward into third. When Bernard turned her in, he thought she might have fainted.

Taiba is the slight 7-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday's $1 million Grade I Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park. Jack Christopher is undefeated and has won all four career starts.
