Fantasy hockey rankings 2022-23: Best sleepers, breakouts and busts from proven NHL model

The 2022-23 NHL season starts on Oct. 7 in Prague. Many Fantasy hockey drafts will be complete by then. The latest ADP shows Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Auston Matthews and Nathan MacKinnon coming off the board in the first four picks in most drafts. Mike McClure's model predicts Vladimir Tarasenko will significantly outperform his 2021-22 Fantasy Hockey ADPs. It also predicts Ivan Provorov won't live up to his top-30 ADPS overall.

SportsLine's model predicts Alex Pietrangelo will be a bust in 2022-23 Fantasy hockey. Sabres' defenseman Owen Power is one of the model's top Fantasy Hockey breakouts. SportsLine grades him almost a full round better than his current Fantasy NHL ADP. He played for Buffalo at the end of last season. He's expected to start the year in Buffalo. The model recommends drafting him late in drafts. It also ranks him as a good value later in the season in Fantasy.

Johnny Gaudreau has been added to the Fantasy Hockey rankings. The model has also made a surprising call on new Blue Jackets winger Johnny Gudreau.
