Fashion and fun take the lead over fillies on Riccarton race day
The New Zealand Cup meeting at Christchurch's Riccarton was postponed just three races in due to an unsafe track. The remaining nine races will be raced at Ric Carton on Monday. Susi Meares was the overall women's winner of the Spring Fashion in the Field competition. She won a trip to Marlborough and a year's supply of The Ned wine. Meare's stylist Sam Schwartfeger won the men's title. Trainer Leonard Stewart travelled 160km from Timaru to attend the races. He had travelled to RicCarton every year since 1972.
