Five Eagles futures bets to make ahead of season opener

Though we have some time before the Philadelphia Eagles open the regular season on the road against the New England Patriots, sportsbooks already have futures available for the 2023-24 season.

Coming off of a historic run to the Super Bowl in just a short time with the Hurts-Sirianni era, the Eagles are the clear favorite to win the NFC again.

Eagles to Win the NFC East (-120, BetMGM)

The Commanders have a lot of off-the-field issues, which will translate to less focus on the football team this season. I think they’re also in their rebuild era for this reason. The Giants might be a contender in the playoffs but won’t take the division from the Eagles or Cowboys.

Narrowing it down to just the Eagles and Cowboys, Dallas lost their star running back and haven’t made any splashy moves that feel like they could contend for the division. The last time there was a repeat champion in the NFC East, it was the Eagles, and I expect that to happen again this season.

Jalen Carter to Win DROY (+650, BetMGM)

Carter is an absolute force to be reckoned with, as we saw in the preseason. I think we need to see what he can do in the regular season and against some more experienced players. Will Anderson (+400) and Tyree Wilson (+600) have the best odds before Carter, so I think it’s telling that as long as he dominates in the regular season, he can stay in the DROY conversation.

Jalen Hurts O 22.5 Passing TDs (-115, BetMGM)

Last season, Jalen Hurts had 22 passing touchdowns. Before that, 16. If we assume he’s getting better each year – since his work ethic and mentality are on another level, this shouldn’t surprise anyone – he should quickly get over 22 passing touchdowns. I like this bet at this value and would probably bet it now, if anything.

Birds in the Playoffs – Falcons, Eagles, Ravens (+320, BetMGM)

BetMGM is fantastic for having this mini-playoff birds parlay. You can bet on the Falcons, Eagles, and Ravens to make the playoffs. I see the Ravens having a good season and making the playoffs. I think the Falcons manage to come out of the NFC South, and the Eagles are one of the clear favorites for the postseason. This at (+320), I think, is an incredible value.

Eagles to Win the NFC (+300, BetMGM)

The Eagles will come out of the NFC East and likely face similar opponents that they did last season since the NFC is so open. I see this either going to the Eagles or the 49ers, but I’m more confident in the Eagles to make it further, and I think this confidence begins with the quarterback position. The Eagles’ defense continues to become threatening, and I don’t know how the 49ers will compete.

Week 1 Bet: Eagles ML (-225, BetMGM)

I expect the Eagles to come out fiery in Week 1 against the Patriots. Their biggest struggle will probably be containing Ezekiel Elliot, everyone else will be less of an issue. I don’t think any Patriots quarterbacks will be quick enough to outpace the beefed-up Eagles’ defense.
