Flyers vs Penguins Picks, Predictions, and Odds Tonight

Life stinks for Philadelphia at the moment and a looming embarrassment at the hands of the rival Penguins won't help the mood for the Flyers. Find out the best way to bet this lopsided matchup in our NHL picks.

The battle of Pennsylvania is set as the Pittsburgh Penguins face the Philadelphia Flyers. This rivalry has been very one-sided, as the Penguins have won five out of the last six meetings.

Pittsburgh is in must-win mode, since the Senators are now within four points of them for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

This is only the second meeting of the season between the two teams. The Penguins took the first battle 4-1 and they will need another statement win in this one.

Flyers vs Penguins best odds

Flyers vs Penguins picks and predictions

The Philadelphia Flyers have been a mess all season and that is certainly not a secret. They are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games, and they have only scored seven goals in their last five games. This season, the Flyers are averaging 2.57 goals per game, which is the third lowest in the NHL. Philadelphia flat-out can’t score.

The Penguins have looked pretty strong offensively as of late, tallying 17 goals in their last five games thanks to Sidney Crosby, Jason Zucker, Jake Guentzel, and Evgeni Malkin, who have been carrying the load offensively. Pittsburgh has won five out of its last seven games.

The Pens should be fired up to play this game after losing a late lead in their last game against the New York Islanders, which they ended up losing in a shootout.

Tristan Jarry needs to step his game up and there isn’t a better opponent to help get back on track than the Flyers.

Pittsburgh has been very strong at home all season, skating to a 17-9-5 record, and it should be able to win this game pretty convincingly.

My best bet: Penguins -1.5 (+100 at Coolbet)

Flyers vs Penguins moneyline analysis

The Flyers are essentially at rock bottom right now and their head coach John Tortorella has been very vocal about how disappointed he is with his team. Not only are the Flyers struggling to score at even strength, but they also have the worst power play in the NHL, converting at a rough 15.3%.

The Penguins haven’t been the most consistent team this season, but as of late they have certainly ramped up their game as they are pushing for the playoffs.

The Flyers have gone 2-6 in their last eight trips to Pittsburgh and it feels like the losing trend is going to continue. Philly has a ton of key players missing from its lineup like Tony DeAngelo, Travis Konecny, and Cam Atkinson, so the Penguins should be able to take advantage of a broken roster.

Flyers vs Penguins Over/Under analysis

Scoring has not been a thing for the Flyers as of late and a lot of that has to do with the fact that they are the worst team in the league at not only finishing but generating scoring chances. The Flyers average just 8.80 chances per game, while the Penguins average the fifth most, generating 12.72 chances per contest.

This is most likely going to be a one-sided affair in Pittsburgh’s favor. The Flyers' first line has combined for only four points in the team’s last five games, which is insanely embarrassing.

Carter Hart has arguably been the only positive for his team, skating to a .907 save percentage and a 2.94 goals against average.

I don’t see this game being high scoring at all, I’d lean toward the Under.
