Frankie Dettori column: My day four Royal Ascot rides including Campanelle and Flotus

Dettori and Stradivarius were defeated by Subjectivist in Thursday's Gold Cup. He is back in action on Friday when Campanelle leads the pack

I kick off Friday riding the favourite, Flotus , in the Albany Stakes (2:30pm).

She’s owned by a good friend of mine, Ed Babington, so it would be brilliant if I could do it for him.

She was impressive first time out at Goodwood and gave me a nice feel when I went to see her last week.

Keep an eye on Aidan’s [O’Brien] Prettiest too, he usually runs a good one in this.

Campanelle in the Commonwealth Cup (3:40pm) is an exciting ride.

She won the Queen Mary in very good fashion and then beat the colts in the Prix Morny.

Having then gone up to the mile at the Breeders’ Cup it was plainly obvious she didn’t get the trip.

I’ve been to sit on her a couple of times in the build-up to this and she seems in good order.

I wouldn’t swap her for anything else that’s for sure.

Frankie Dettori steered Campanelle to victory in the 2020 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot

In the Coronation Stakes (4:20pm) I’ve got Pretty Gorgeous for Joseph [O’Brien].

She’s got some pretty amazing two-year-old form and went off a well-backed favourite for the Irish 1000 Guineas so it’s a nice ride to pick up.

Her run in the Guineas was a touch disappointing, but the ground looked hard work that day and she could come on quite a bit from that given it was her first run of the season.

I won the Guineas on Mother Earth so I’ve obviously got a lot of respect for her and she’s the one we all have to beat.

Kestenna gave me a good spin last time out at York and I’m looking forward to getting on her in the Sandringham Stakes (5:00pm).

It’s a very competitive race but she’d have to have a fair chance.

Grand Bazaar in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes (5:35pm) is my final ride on the Friday.

He’s a pretty solid type who stays the trip well and should put up a good fight.
