From the Queen to first-season sires, some pedigree angles at Royal Ascot

The biggest week in Flat racing kicks off on Tuesday. First-season sires and international stallions will be represented.

Naval College could give his sire Dartmouth a first winner in the King George V Stakes on Thursday. Dartmouth won the Hardwicke Stake at Royal Ascot in 2016. He won eight races for the Queen, including the Yorkshire Cup and Ormonde St.

There are a number of first-season sire runners at Royal Ascot this week. The Coventry Stakes on the first day will see the impressive York winner Bradsell attempt to make it two from two for Nunnery Stud resident Tasleet. Harry Angel's Harry Time is due to be sold at the Goffs London Sale. Love Reigns, Stonestreet Stables' daughter of Coolmore's champion juvenile and July Cup winner US Navy Flag is favourite for Wednesday's Queen Mary Stake. Nicconi, Uncle Mo and Into Mischief are the top-ranked runners in the market for the King's Stand Stakes. Nicconi is based at Widden Stud and has produced the likes of Doomben Cup winner Above Deck and other Group-winning runners such as Mr Martini, Redaspen and Schilling. UncleMo and into Mischie are sires of superstars including Golden Pal and Man Of Promise.

Last year's title went down to the wire as Frankel pipped Dark Angel. Frankel has three winners, two seconds and a third to DarkAngel's three, while Dubawi, Night Of Thunder and Mayson had two winners and some placings between them. Homeless Songs and Inspiral are leading contenders for Friday's Coronation Stakes. Juan Elcano returns for more in the race on Tuesday. Dark Angels team will include Baltic Bird, Nahanni and Emotion in Queen's Vase on Wednesday, and Sibila Spain in Duke of Cambridge Stake. Dubawai has Creative Force, Life Of Dreams, Eldar Eldarov and Sea The Stars.
