GAME RECAP: Oilers 5, Kraken 3

The Oilers beat Seattle Kraken 5-3 at Rogers Place. Tyson Barrie, Jesse Puljujarvi, Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane, Connor McDavid, Daniel Sprong, Matty Beniers, and Jared McCann scored for the Kraken.

Edmonton Oilers beat Seattle Kraken 5-3 in their final preseason game. Leon Draisaitl had a four point night. The team has a 4-4 record. Seattle broke the deadlock with Daniel Sprong's goal 7:10 into the first period. The Kraken outshot the Oilers 10-4 in the opening period, but Seattle won the game 5-3.

Jack Campbell made a big save to keep the game level at 1-1. The save was the biggest of several key stops to help his team win. Campbell would turn aside 28 of 31 Kraken shots in the win over Seattle. Oilers won 5-3. Edmonton scored a goal late in first period. Seattle took the lead in second period with a late goal.

Jesse Puljujarvi played well on the Oilers top line with Connor McDavid and Evander Kane. He was named the game's second star. Puljurvi took a tripping penalty late in the third which led to McCann's goal.

Seattle takes a 2-1 lead with 8:49 left in the second. Matty Beniers scored his fourth goal in four preseason games. Benier is expected to be a big part of Seattle's offence this season.

The Oilers won 5-3 against the Kraken. McDavid liked the win. He thinks the team played well, but it won't be enough when the real bullets fly.

McDavid is excited about this year's Oilers team. There are 32 teams that think they have a shot at winning the Stanley Cup this season.

McDavid is happy with his game in training camp. He still needs to work on some parts of it.

Dylan Holloway believes it's important to distribute the puck at the NHL level. He uses his teammates more as they are established NHL players.

Jay Woodcroft enjoyed the game. The game was a back and forth affair. Both teams scored powerplay goals. It came down to the last few minutes.

Jesse Puljujarvi scored a big goal against Abbotsford. Woodcroft thinks that playing with Connor brought out his natural skillset.

Yamamoto and Foegele didn't play in the game. Woodcroft doesn't think it will affect the opening night roster.
