India vs. Australia prediction: Picks, odds, live stream, TV channel, start time for 2023 World Cup final

India and Australia will meet in the 2023 World Cup final Sunday to decide the champion of cricket’s greatest tournament. The two sides met in a final 20 years ago, with Australia winning decisively in its second of three consecutive World Cup crowns. India got some revenge in the 2011 World Cup quarterfinal, with Australia hitting back in the 2015 World Cup semifinal. India went on to win in 2011 and Australia got the 2015 title. These two countries have combined for five of the last six World Cup titles.

Moneyline pick: India -255

The host country has won the last three World Cups, and India can make it four in a row with a victory Sunday. There’s been little to criticize so far, with India having a perfect record throughout the competition. On one side, there’s Virat Kohli who leads the tournament in runs. On the other, there’s Mohammed Shami who leads the tournament in wickets. Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have stabilized the Indian batting lineup, while Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been able to get the team off to fast starts. It’ll be a home crowd at Narendra Modi Stadium, the crown jewel of Indian cricket and Indian sports. The environment will favor India.

Australia have been shaky at times during this competition, but have found moments of individual brilliance when they needed it most. Adam Zampa and Mitchell Starc are dangerous as ever with the ball, while David Warner has amassed an impressive run total in what is likely his final World Cup match. Glenn Maxwell has shown he can take the game away from anyone. Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne haven’t played up to their potential yet, but the final is a perfect opportunity to deliver the big innings at the right time. The talent is there with this side and if it all comes together Sunday, Australia have a great chance to take home a sixth World Cup title.

I don’t see that happening. India have been the most consistent side, and have too much confidence right now across the lineup. Australia might get one or two good performances, but India are clicking on all cylinders and have the ultimate trump card with Kohli in form. Take the hosts to lift the title.
