Irish Cesarewitch tips & runners guide to Curragh 4.10 on Sunday

A Curragh cracker is on the cards after a maximum field of 30 runners were declared for the lucrative marathon contest that is the Irish Cesarewitch.

Aidan O’Brien saddled last year’s winner and he relies on St Leger fourth Tower Of London, who receives the three-year-old weight allowance, to bring home the bacon for the second season in a row.

The Ballydoyle master’s son Joseph O’Brien fires five darts at the contest including Royal Ascot winner Dawn Rising and Adonis Juvenile Hurdle hero Nurse, but it is Jumps maestro Willie Mullins who has the most entries in Sunday’s 16:10 with a six-strong squad spearheaded by last year’s runner-up Echoes In Rain.

Timeform: Plenty are in with a shout. Emmet Mullins’ dual purpose campaigner TEED UP arrives on an upward curve so edges the vote now back on the level after an impressive hurdles win at Galway. Dawn Rising is weighted to have a big say on the back of his Irish St leger third and next on the list, although a solid case can also be made for Tower of London, Echoes In Rain and Chally Chute in a fiercely competitive Irish Cesarewitch.
