Kentucky Derby result is overturned on protest, with Maximum Security replaced as winner by outsider Country House

Country House won the Kentucky Derby. Maximum Security was disqualified for interference. It was the first time in the race's 145-year history that a winner was not declared. The winner takes home $US1.86 million. The last claim of interference by a jockey in a Derby was unsuccessful. In 1968 Dancer's Image tested positive for a prohibited medication and the purse money was redistributed. Forward Pass got the winner's share. A subsequent court challenge upheld the stewards' decision. Bill Mott won his first Derby at 65. Flavien Prat won for the second time.
