Listowel horse racing tips on day five of the Harvest Festival

Lightly-raced Imaginarium might defy top-weight in the Listowel Printing Works Handicap, feature of Listowel’s second flat card of the week.

Trained by Ger Lyons, this Make Believe gelding has raced only four times, recording a wide-margin success in a Curragh maiden, on his second start, last October.

That performance proved his ability to handle ‘soft to heavy’ conditions, which he’ll encounter again today.

This season, Imaginarium has run twice, failing to make an impact in the listed event won by Espionage in Roscommon on his four-year-old debut in early July.

And, last time, on his handicap debut, he was far from disgraced when finishing six lengths sixth to Brazil in the valuable Guinness Handicap at Galway.

Racing off a 2lb. lower mark today, Colin Keane’s mount has obvious claims in a field which includes Very Verto, trained by in0fiorm Gavin Cromwell, and hat- trick-seeking Jabbar, up 8lb. for wins at Killarney and Roscommon.

Earlier, Johnny Murtagh’s filly Kermiya, unlucky in running when beaten a head by Golden Sandbanks in a recent apprentice handicap in Galway, might open her account in the Kevin McManus Bookmaker Handicap.

This Fastnet Rock filly stays well, handles soft ground and, if ridden close to the pace than at Galway, should be tough to beat.

Eric McNamara’s Londonofficecallin, successful at Down Royal and Killarney before finishing fourth at the Curragh, will have plenty of supporters in the finale, but might be vulnerable to the Andy Slattery-trained Sir Allen, an accomplished hurdler, attractively treated here off 68.
