Mattress Mack Super Bowl bet: McIngvale will miss out on Vegas betting

Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale is known for his massive wagers on sports games, but he says he won't be betting on the 2024 Super Bowl.

McIngvale told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that ahead of the AFC championship game, he planned to "bet big" on the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl before talking himself out of the bet. Now that the Chiefs are in the big game, Mattress Mack doesn't think the stakes are high enough to be worth his investment.

“The point spread’s too short for me,” McIngvale told the Review-Journal. “I’m gonna sit this one out because I can’t lay 100 to win 100.”

The Chiefs are currently two-point underdogs to the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58, according to BetMGM. Their moneyline sits at +110 as of Thursday.

Mattress Mack's recent bets

McIngvale lost $500,000 earlier in these playoffs by betting on his hometown Houston Texans to beat the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round.

Two years ago, he lost $9.5 million betting on the Bengals to win the Super Bowl before winning a record $72.6 million in bets on the Houston Astros to win the World Series.

McIngvale previously had a history of betting against the Chiefs, losing $3 million across three bets on their playoff opponents during their Super Bowl-winning run (over the 49ers) in 2020. This year, even though he won't be betting, he thinks Kansas City will beat San Francisco once again.

Mattress Mack net worth

Various sources estimate McIngvale's net worth to be around $300-310 million.
