New York Giants vs Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills (3-2 SU, 3-2 ATS) will be aiming to extend their current SU home win streak in primetime action to four games when they host the slumping New York Giants (1-4 SU, 0-5 ATS) on Sunday Night Football in NFL Week 6 action.

The Bills’ woes away from home continued with last weekend’s 25-20 loss in London to the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, in addition to their current surge under the lights, the Bills are also unbeaten in five straight on home turf at Bills Stadium.

The Giants travel to Western New York looking for answers after seeing their current SU slide extend to three games with last weekend’s 31-16 loss in Miami. The Giants have now won just four of their past 15 regular season contests, and ride a six-game ATS losing streak.

Latest Betting Notes: New York Giants

The pre-season enthusiasm surrounding the Giants seems like a distant memory in the wake of this team’s brutal start to the campaign. For the fifth time in as many games, the Giants limped out of the gate last weekend in Miami, spotting the Dolphins an early 14-0 lead before embarking on a rally that fell woefully short.

While Daniel Jones once again topped 70% in pass completions, it mattered little considering he failed to find the end zone for a third straight game while averaging just 153 passing yards over that stretch. Overall, the New York offense has not scored in the past two.

In addition, the absence of injured rusher Saquon Barkley has been devastating for a New York ground game that generated just 85 yards last weekend, and last produced a TD three weeks ago. While it is tough to get excited about the Giants as they teeter on the brink of freefall, one positive is their 7-2 ATS record in their past nine well peed as underdogs by 13 or more points.

Latest Betting Notes: Buffalo Bills

Could it have been the long overseas journey to London? Or possibly a bout of overconfidence in the wake of three straight crushing victories. Whatever the reason, the Bills turned in what can only be described as a sloppy performance while handing the Jaguars a 25-20 win last weekend.

Their own worst enemy while taking 109 yards in penalties, the Bills enjoyed less than 22 minutes of possession while extending what has becoming an increasingly mediocre 4-3 SU and 3-4 ATS run away from Bills Stadium. Josh Allen did his part in a bid to spark a second-half rally, extending his streak of regular season games with at least one scoring pass to 13 with two TDs. However, he failed to help his own cause with three picks, and received little help from a moribund backfield that generated just 29 yards.

The Keys to Victory: Giants

If the Giants are to have any hope against a surly Bills squad seeking to right its ship, they must find creative ways to generate offense early and often. That could prove to be a massive task in the wake of a neck injury suffered by Daniel Jones in Miami that could put his availability in question.

If Jones is unable to go, expect the Giants to turn to former Bills pivot Tyrod Taylor. The 34-year-old veteran was steady in relief of Jones in Miami, but was exposed by a porous offensive line that allowed him to get roughed up by Dolphins defenders. There is increased optimism that Saquon Barkley could return to action on Sunday night. However, Barkley has failed to set himself apart when playing in primetime, averaging just 52 rushing yards and two total scoring runs over his past nine appearances.

The Keys to Victory: Bills

A dominant force on home field, the Bills must find a way to rein in their emotions after taking a rash of stupid penalties in last week’s visit to London. This team could also benefit from some additional rest after looking generally fatigued in their loss to the Panthers. While Josh Allen can be expected to make the necessary adjustments to get back on track after tossing three interceptions last week, sparking the backfield may be a bigger task.

The ground game has produced scores in four straight games, it has failed to produce a breakout performance since James Cook racked up 221 total rushing yards over Weeks 2 and 3. Cook has also struggled since, compiling just 25 total yards over the past two weeks. But faced with a slumping Giants rush defense that has allowed an NFL-worst nine scoring runs to date, Sunday night may prove to be a tonic for Bills ball barriers.
