NHL parlay picks March 20: Bet on the Blackhawks, Kings and Penguins

We’re eyeing down three picks for our NHL parlay on Monday.

The pregame narrative: The Chicago Blackhawks are competing hard and that’s likely all they’ll need to do to cover against the Colorado Avalanche. The Los Angeles Kings are an excellent home team and are facing a Calgary Flames squad running out of time. Lastly, we’re teasing the Pittsburgh Penguins to underdog status against the Ottawa Senators.

NHL odds as of 10:40 a.m. on 03/20/2023.

NHL parlay picks

Parlay: Blackhawks +2.5 + Kings moneyline + Penguins +1.5 (+330)

Blackhawks +2.5 (-117): Chicago is quietly playing some strong hockey and should keep it close against Colorado.

The Blackhawks have won two of their last three, including a win over the Boston Bruins, and own a respectable 54.26% expected goals percentage during this time, according to Natural Stat Trick. Their run of strong play, however, extends much further back than this three-game sample.

Chicago has covered this number in 14 of its last 16 contests.

The Avalanche, meanwhile, are playing well but it’s difficult to win by three or more on a consistent basis. They’ve only managed three wins of that margin in their last 10 outings.

Kings moneyline (-114): Los Angeles is good value at near-even money odds against Calgary.

The Kings are an impressive 22-9-4 at home this year, winning eight of their last 10 at Crypto.com Arena. Goaltending’s been a major question mark, but it’s holding up as of late. Los Angeles owns the fourth-best save percentage (.933) in the league over the last seven days.

L.A. is facing a Flames team struggling to find any consistency between the pipes. Calgary has the third-worst save percentage in the NHL (.829) across the last week. Winning on the road has been a bit of a challenge for the team, as it has a 15-21 record away from Scotiabank Saddledome this year.

Los Angeles hosted Calgary and won 4-3 in overtime earlier this season.

Penguins +1.5 (-435): Pittsburgh’s grip on a playoff spot is waining, but we’re expecting a bounce-back effort from the squad at home.

The Penguins’ road struggles continued with a pair of losses to the New York Rangers but tonight they will be back at PPG Paints Arena, where they have played much better hockey.

Pittsburgh is an abysmal 15-15-5 on the road but is 19-10-5 at home. The team’s opponent, Ottawa, shares that in common. The Senators are a strong 19-13-3 at home and 14-18-2 on the road.

The Penguins have covered this number in five of their last six home games.
