Nick Sirianni believes his Philadelphia Eagles offense line is ‘one of the best ever assembled’

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has praised his offensive and defensive lines, claiming they hold the key to victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.

While their offense rose to top ten figures in both passing and rushing, the Eagles defense ripped its way to 70 regular-season sacks this year, the third-most in NFL history.

"It doesn't matter what level you're playing, you win football games with the offensive and defensive lines," Sirianni told the Eagles official website in his weekly one-on-one with Dave Spadaro.

Sirianni's men have seen their domination in the trenches continue into the postseason, earning themselves a +8 sack differential after comprehensive victories over the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.

"We have such a deep defensive line group that can stop the run and get after the passer," Sirianni continued.

"Every game starts up front. (We have) one of the best offensive lines ever assembled and that's important for whatever play you're running, rushing or passing.

"We have two special groups with special leaders and players; we go as they go and going into the Super Bowl we'll ride them as we have all year."

Philadelphia head the early betting as slight favourites, meaning opposition quarterback Patrick Mahomes is set to play his first postseason game as an underdog.

Mahomes has risen above a high ankle sprain sustained in the first half of the Divisional Round to produce two vintage playoff performances, accumulating 500+ yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions despite clearly playing through pain.

Without his usual mobility, the MVP-bound superstar has had to lean on an offensive line that gave up the third-fewest sacks in the regular season this year.

"(Mahomes) has just got a great command of the team," Sirianni told Spadaro.

"From afar it looks like he's a real good leader, you can tell he's got all the intangibles. He can beat you with his legs and his arms - he's one the best players in the world.

"We know we're going to have to play really well and have sound, disciplined defense to beat a player like Patrick Mahomes. But we know we have a really good quarterback and team too, so it should be a great game."
