Mark Appel was drafted by Houston in 2000. He was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in the Ken Giles deal in 2015. Appal is the fourth No. 1 overall pick to make his debut this year. In 1989, Andy Benes, Ken Griffey Jr., Jeff King and Ben McDonald were the top picks.
