The San Francisco Giants (65-68) are riding a four-game win streak heading into Tuesday’s second game against the Los Angeles Dodgers (92-42) in L.A. The Dodgers dropped the first game of the series on Monday 7-4, but still have a massive 19-game lead in the division.

The Giants trail the Dodgers by 26.5 games but still have a shot at a wild card spot. Entering play on Tuesday, San Francisco trails the San Diego Padres by 7.5 games for the third wild card berth in the National League. Before Monday’s win, the Dodgers were on an 8-0 run against their NL West rivals and 7-1 against the spread.

While Monday’s win was a good sign for the Giants, the fact remains that the Dodgers have the most wins in the MLB and routinely dominate San Francisco. Tyler Anderson (13-3, 2.68) continues a dominant season for L.A. The lefty is having a late breakout season at 32 and is a big reason why the Dodgers are leading the NL West.

In his previous six starts, Anderson has a fantastic 2.89 ERA and K/BB rate of 23/11 in 37 ⅓ innings. His 2-2 record in that span is not excellent, but those losses are on the Dodgers’ offense. Anderson hasn’t allowed more than three runs in his last five starts and should have little trouble with the Giants’ light-hitting offense.

San Francisco enters this game ranked 23rd in batting average (.234) and 25th in strikeouts per game (8.84). They managed to drop seven runs on L.A. in Game 1, but Anderson presents a much more formidable opponent than Andrew Heney.

If you are wondering why the Giants are such massive underdogs tonight, look no further than their starter John Brebbiea (6-1, 3.04). His stats aren’t bad, but Brebbia is not a starter; he’s an opener.

That means the Giants are going against the best team in baseball with a bullpen game on Tuesday. Brebbia hasn’t pitched more than a single inning in any appearance all year. So while he may emerge unscathed, the Giants bullpen will have to rally and win this game.

Bullpen games are hard to predict, but the Giants make it easier. San Francisco has one of the worst bullpen ERAs in the league at 4.22 and a combined WHIP of 1.39. If there is a bullpen to be suspicious of in a game like this, it’s the Giants.

The odds at FanDuel Sportsbook list the Dodgers as huge baseball betting favorites of -330 on the moneyline.

Our Best Bet Today

With the gap between these two teams straight up, there is very little value on the moneyline. Unless you want to take a chance on the Giants bullpen to beat the best team in baseball, that is. We’re not so inclined to take that risk.

Instead, we turn to the runline with the Dodgers -150 to win and cover Game 2. Even with a handicap, the Dodgers don’t present a ton of value. But, they give us the best chance to walk away from this game with winning tickets.

At -150 runline odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, a $100 wager on the Mets would payout $66 plus your initial stake.

Our Same-Game Parlay

Are you looking for a way to make betting on this NL West rivalry even more exciting? You should consider adding a same-game parlay to your betting card. This wager allows you to combine multiple wagers from a single event.

Same-game parlays are a way to increase the odds and potential payout, as opposed to making bets separately. For more information, check out our guide on how to bet on a same-game parlay.

Here are the three props we selected for Tuesday’s same-game parlay:

  • Tyler Anderson “over” 4.5 total strikeouts (-140)
  • Mookie Betts to score a run (-180)
  • Trea Turner to record 2+ total bases (-135)

Combining this trio of wagers into a same-game parlay cranks the odds up to +359 at FanDuel Sportsbook. At those odds, a win on a $100 bet is good for a $359 profit plus your original $100 wager back.

The first leg of Tuesday’s parlay features Anderson in the hopes he strikes out at least five batters. Anderson is not a great strikeout pitcher, but this is a perfect matchup for us to ignore that shortcoming. San Francisco strikes out more than almost every other team, and Anderson already fanned six Giants in a start this season.

Betts to score a run has become a popular addition to this parlay, and we’re rolling with him again. Betts continues to cross the plate at a high rate, with four runs scored in his last three games alone. He scored once against the Giants last night and could have a field day against San Francisco’s shaky bullpen.

The anchor for our same-game parlay tonight is Turner to record two total bases. Turner hit safely in four straight games heading into Tuesday and is another candidate to light up the Giant’s subpar bullpen.
