Philadelphia Flyers: The organization must embrace the tank this season
The Philadelphia Flyers are in need of a bad season to avoid the urge to delude themselves into thinking they can hang around and make the playoffs. Sean Couturier's injury makes the situation worse. The Flyers don't have a white knight on the horizon to lead them back to contention. Connor Bedard is the presumptive 2023 #1 overall pick.
The Philadelphia Flyers are going to be very bad this season. Ryan Ellis is not coming back. Joel Farabee is recovering from neck surgery. The team is going through a lot of injuries. John Tortorella is putting the team through the paces. The organization should try to play hard and not embarrass itself. They should also try and trade players. It's not easy to tank. NHL players have too much pride to just go out and lose games. If they lose, the young players will be better for it. There is no guarantee they will play well. Travis Konecny should be traded. James van Riemsdyk should probably be moved well in advance of the trade deadline.
