Prediction Machine Pick Of The Day

I, Tony Farmer, am excited to be providing my betting analysis and recommendations in this space each Monday - Friday.

If you hear me refer to the "Prediction Machine" in my analysis, that's the model over at predictionmachine.com, which simulates games 10,000 times. If you'd like more info about Prediction Machine's model, see the blurb below or go check us out.

Let's get off to a hot start!

Prediction Machine Free Play: Iowa State at Texas Tech UNDER 129.5 (-110)

Iowa State at Texas Tech has a low total, which may be tempting for over bettors, but it's low for a reason. Prediction Machine recommends a modest 0.1 unit play ($10 for $100 average bettors) on Iowa State and Texas Tech going UNDER 129 total points, but there are still a few 129.5 lines can still be found in the market. You'll hear me say this a lot - "Always shop around."

This game opened with a total of 130 and has ticked down half of a point to 129.5, which may seem insignificant at first glance. However, 82% of bets and 76% of the money was actually on the over when it dipped down as low as 128.5, so respected money must have caught bookmakers' eyes to make this seemingly counterintuitive move known in the industry as "reverse line movement."

It always feels better betting when you know the wise guys are on your side and you're fading the public together. I liked this UNDER at 128.5 earlier in the day and of course like it even more at 129.5 now.

Both teams are 3-2 to the UNDER in their last 5 games and Iowa State is 4-1 to the under in its last 5 road games. In those contests, the Cyclones averaged 61.4 points compared to 76.4 points scored in their last 5 home games. Simply put, Iowa State is much less of an offensive threat on the road.

Texas Tech has put up impressive scoring numbers recently but it's not likely to be sustainable. For instance, they shot 61% from 3-point range in their win vs. LSU, but that isn't likely against an Iowa State team that leads their conference in points allowed.
