Punchestown and Perth Festival tips plus best bets for Ludlow, Catterick and Lingfield

MAKIN'YOURMINDUP (3.00) is the call in the Gold Castle Novices’ Hurdle on Day One of the Perth Festival. Paul Nicholls’ horse stayed upwardly mobile when chinning Collectors Item in a Haydock Grade 2. The gelding showed a willing attitude so he can follow-up for a trainer who excels at this meeting.

The Ditcheat Ace can also bag the Balnakeilly Novices’ Chase with HUELGOAT (2.00). The six-year-old improved again when giving Harlem Soul most problems at Wincanton. That is respectable form so this strong-traveller can resume winning ways after a break.

ASHINGTON (2.30) can wing-it for Mark Walford in the Capercaillie Handicap Chase. The gelding was unlucky to meet Bold Endeavour on his last outing over fences at Leicester. The bay won’t mind dropping back to two miles and will be fit after some fair timber efforts.

BRIDES HILL (3.30) can hit back for Gavin Cromwell in the Maid Of Perth Chase. The mare found the promotion Grade 1 level too much when pulled-up at Fairyhouse. However, she had been progressive so she should atone in these much calmer waters.

NOTNOWLINDA (4.05 ) can extend Dan Skelton’s terrific run in the mares’ hurdle. The six-year-old put in her best shift yet when third to Bonttay in a warm Kelso novice. The bay was staying-on nicely over two mile so she can claim a weaker event up in trip.

LASTOFTHECOSMICS (4.35) looks stellar for Iain Jardine in a trappy amateur’s hurdle. The eight-year-old wasn’t disgraced when fourth behind Curley Finger at Musselburgh. The gelding remains fairly-treated so he can get his head back in front dropped in class.

VE DAY (1.40) can prevail for Donald McCain in a fascinating novices’ hurdle at Ludlow. The four-year-old comfortably accounted for Elogio on his timber bow at Musselburgh. The youngster clearly has a bright future so he can strike again for his thriving handler.

Nigel Twiston-Davies is also flying so I’m on BALLYCAMUS (2:40) in the staying hurdle. The gelding relished returning to three miles when slamming Howaya Now at Newbury. The six-year-old scored with plenty in hand so he can shrug-off a well-deserved 6lb hike.
