Raiders vs. Lions line, odds and predictions: Our experts like Detroit to beat Las Vegas

The Athletic has live coverage of Monday Night Football featuring the Raiders vs Lions.

The Detroit Lions received a big wakeup call last Sunday in a stunning blowout loss to the Ravens. They get a chance to redeem themselves at home against a Las Vegas Raiders team that brings in one of the league’s worst offenses. The Lions are more than a touchdown favorite.

Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET Monday night from Ford Field in Detroit. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN and ABC.

Last Sunday’s game was just a total meltdown by the Lions, running into a buzzsaw of a Ravens team that did everything right. The Lions are better than that and should have plenty of motivation to prove it in front of a national TV audience. They are also getting the right matchup to do so.

The Raiders will have quarterback Jimmy Garroppolo back in time for Monday’s game. The Raiders’ offense has been one of the NFL’s worst all season. They have scored more than 20 points just one time this season, and even then needed a safety from the defense to get them over that mark. They do not pass the ball well, they do not protect the ball and despite having one of the league’s top running backs in Josh Jacobs, they do not run the ball well. Jacobs is averaging just 2.9 yards per carry this season after leading the league in rushing a year ago.

As if that if not enough, coach Josh McDaniels seems to make at least one baffling decision per week.

This should be a great chance for the Lions defense to get back on track. The same should be true for the offense after starting quarterback Jared Goff had one of his worst games as a member of the Lions in the loss to Baltimore.

The over/under is set at 45 points. The Lions have hit the over in four of their seven games, but only two of the seven Raiders games have gone over.
