New Delhi: The India versus Australia World Cup final match scheduled Sunday, November 19, has nearly Rs 70,000 crore in bets riding on it, industry sources say. The amount riding on the match has broken several records, they say. According to the sources, India is the clear favourite as World Cup winner as per those betting on the match. Prior to this, the India versus Pakistan match during the World Cup had Rs 40,000 crore riding on it.

More than 500 betting websites across the world have initiated betting on the Cricket World Cup final, an astounding number, considering the active apprehension around the popularity of the One-Day International (ODI) format at the beginning of the World Cup.

The majority of those betting on the match seem to think that India will win the toss, and Rohit Sharma will elect to bat first. Further, despite Virat Kohli's stupendous achievements in the tournament, as well as the solid performance on display by Shubman Gill, gamblers are placing their bets on Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav to see India through.

Among bowlers, too, the gamblers' choice seems surprising. Mohammed Shami has been the pick of the bowlers for India in course of the World Cup. But a larger section of bettors are relying on Mohammed Siraj and Jaspreet Bumrah for their money.

The gamblers don't expect very high scores in the match, with most of those betting on the cricket finale expecting scores between 250 to 300. A smaller section believes that the score will be between 300 and 400 while a minority of gamblers expect the score to go beyond 400.
