Ryan Moore produces 'ride of the century' to land four-timer for Aidan O'Brien at Irish Champions Festival

Ryan Moore produced what has been described as "the ride of the century" to land a four-timer for himself and Aidan O'Brien at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The Ballydoyle trainer's first choice jockey incredibly steered Broadhurst from last to first as the three-year-old showed an incredible turn of foot to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF "Sovereign Path" Handicap in the final race on day one of the Irish Champions Festival.

Sent off the 5/1 second favourite, Broadhurst found himself towards the back of the pack from the start of the race and spent much of the contest in last position.

Moore began to push his mount as they came round the turn and he looked to have very little chance of winning the race, some even went as far as to say that victory looked impossible for him.

Dunum, the 9/2 favourite then hit the front and looked certain to win before Broadhurst got going late on under Moore and powered home under the English jockey to incredibly win by a length and a quarter in the end.

Commentator Jerry Hannon couldn't believe what he was seeing, saying in running: "Flashing home from another planet, look at Broadhurst, from last."

And there was plenty of praise for Moore, who made it a four-timer after earlier wins on Diego Velazquez (8/15 f), Auguste Rodin (11/4 f) and Adelaide River (11/8 f), on social media afterwards.

One person wrote: "STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND WATCH RYAN MOORE PRODUCE RIDE OF THE CENTURY."

Another commented: "JESUS CHRIST, WHAT A RUN FROM BROADHURST. Ryan Moore proving once again that he is unrivalled. Unreal."

Someone else said: "The ride of the year from a genius called Ryan Moore on Broadhurst @LeopardstownRC.

"To win from where he was I would say was impossible with 1 furlong to go. The best jockey in the world."

A one euro bet on the four-timer would have returned €81.94.
