Sandown report: Wishing And Hoping springs 50-1 Final surprise

The most valuable race at Sandown Park today was the £100,000 Unibet Veterans’ Handicap Chase Final. Wishing and Hoping won the race.

Wishing And Hoping won the Unibet Veterans’ Handicap Chase Final at Sandown Park. The horse was one of four 13-year-olds in the 18-runner field. It was the biggest success of trainer Mel Rowley's career. The winning owner Trish Andrews is heartbroken. She has had horses for a long time. Wishing and Hopings has been a slow burner but Phil, Mel and Alex have found the key to him and given him his confidence. He was too buzzy as a youngster and needed more time before going under rules. If they could turn the clock back he should have done this when he was four or five.

Love Envoi won the Listed Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Mares’ Hurdle at Sandown. She is now the favourite for the David Nicholson Mare's Hursle in Cheltenham. Love EnVoi has won eight of nine starts under Rules.

Love Envoi won the Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Mares’ Hurdle at Sandown Park today. Johnny Burke rode her well. She is owned by Noel Fehily Racing Syndicates. Fehmily and David Crosse set up the syndicate to have horses for Saturdays. Love EnVoi is now 4-1 for the Close Brothers Mare's Hortle in the Festival. She won a handicap at the track on her seasonal return 35 days ago.

Noel Fehily's syndicate won the Sandown Final at 50-1. Tahmuras won Grade One. Feihily is happy to watch his horses perform well. Love Envoi could take part in the Warwick Mares’ Hurdle on February 11th. She could also go to Cheltenham Festival.  Feihley will talk to Harry Fry about it. He is relaxed. It was the first win for the syndicates.

Xcitations won the Unibet Horserace Betting Operator Of The Year Handicap Chase. Pam Sly's horse followed up his recent victory at Doncaster with a fine display of jumping under Jack Andrews. Xcitation was a 25-1 chance for the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handiap at The Cheltenham Festival.

Sly is the breeder and trainer of Xcitations. He also bred and part-owns the winner. XCitations won two races last season but was always lame after he ran. After a third X-ray, it was found that X citations had a fracture of the pedal bone.

Certainly Red won the Read Nicky Henderson’s Unibet Blog Handicap Chase. The 9-1 chance beat his rivals by 6 and a half lengths. Lydia Richards is proud of her horse. He has two older brothers that won nine races each. He is trying to get up there with them. Wishing And Hoping was a 50- 1 chance.

I Have A Voice (17-2) won the opening Unibet Extra Places Every Day Juvenile Hurdle. Nigel Hawke and Jim Bolger's horses won a lot of races together. Bo Zenith finished third. Hawkes would like to take I Have a Voice to Cheltenham but he needs to come up a few pounds. He would not get the run of the race at Cheltonham.

Hardy Du Seuil won the concluding Unibet New And Improved Bet Builder Handicap Hurdle. He was trained by Jamie Snowden. The horse was second in a Grade Two novice chase last season. He will be aiming for two mile handicaps on soft ground. Wishing And Hoping came second at Sandown at 50-1. They will go for the Betfair Hemptle at the end of the season, which is a big target for Snowden's horse.
