China Spring (3-0) is playing Waco Connally (0-3) in a state ranked showdown on Friday night. China Spring is on a 19-game winning streak. WACO Connallys has been pushed by Wacos La Vega and Cameron Yoe the last two weeks. Jelani McDonald is injured and won't play for W ACN.
Calallen (3-0) is coming to Gobbler Country to play Cuero (0-3) on Friday night. Calallan beat Corpus Christi Flour Bluff 40-7 a week ago. Cuera beat Yoakum 75-6 last week. Stepp’s picks Cuero to win.
Franklin is unbeaten and top ranked in 3A-Division I. Franklin beat Diboll 35-23 last week. Jasper lost to Newton 20-6 last time out. Stepp’s Pick: Franklin by 11.
West Orange-Stark (2-1) and Newton (1-2) are playing each other this week. West Orange lost to Port Neches-Groves last week 27-6. Newton beat Jasper 20- 6 last time out.
Gunter (2-0) is playing well in the first two weeks of the season. Brock (0-3) has played three straight top ten teams in Class 4A and lost all three games. Last week Brock lost to Wimberley 32-23. Gunter didn't play in Week 1. The Tigers have been dominant in week 2 and 3 outscoring two opponents 107-6.
Coleman (3-0) is state ranked in 2A-Division I. Coleman beat Brady 56-24 a week ago. Llano (0-3) won 57-13 against Austin Crockett last week.
Hawley (3-0) and Albany (2-1) are state ranked 2A teams in Abilene area. Hawley has dominated early in the year with three straight lopsided wins over 3A opponents. Albany got a much tougher than expected test from Seymour last week, but they won 27-13. Stepp’s Pick: Hawly by 11.
