Smith suggests moving horse racing events to Anegada
Lesmore Smith, president of the BVI Horse Owners’ Association, suggests moving horse racing to Anegada. The government has stopped all horse races scheduled for the upcoming weekend and any activities at the Ellis Thomas Downs track.
Smith suggests moving horse racing events to Anegada. The current track at the Ellis Thomas Downs is only a four-furlong track. A proper track would require some 15 acres of land. A Negada is the only place that government would have that land, and it can host the Caribbean Classic.
He suggests that the Anegada economy can be developed with the addition of more homes and hotels. St Thomas opened the door for the rest of the Caribbean to visit the USVI visa-free. This presents an opportunity for moving people of Caribbean around and helping to build and grow the BVI economy.
