talkSPORT Wednesday racing tips for Newmarket and Cheltenham

Wednesday racing tips come from the Craven meeting and the jumps at Cheltenham.

talkSPORT have gone through the racecards, form, going and much more so you don’t have to.

Cheltenham betting tips

1.30: Heltenham 9/2

Three for five over fences now and is on for four straight wins for the Skelton team.

Has handled each step up in grade with relative ease and has shot up from a mark of 107 in November to 134 and could still be reaching his ceiling mark.

Beat Numitor by five lengths, who was entered into the Grade 3 Topham at Aintree last week, but ended up being pulled up.

Shouldn’t mind the good ground and has also gone well in races of this nature even if this demands another best now in a Grade 2 handicap.

2.05: Bold Endeavour 9/1

This is a huge price to a horse that finished just 11 lengths off of Langer Dan in the Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival.

That fifth position out of 26 suggests a drop of 1lb makes him dangerous to claim at least place money in this Class 2 Handicap.

That was his first run over hurdles since April 2022, in a Grade 1 and ultimately now is a massive threat off this workable mark at a massive price.

3.15: Rock My Way 12/1

Top-weight for a reason and is a surprisingly high price that warrants siding with for a nice each-way bet.

Not quite suited to the step up to 3m and it was a tough slog at Cheltenham Festival in the Albert Bartlett so can be forgiven for pulling up.

The time before that though this five-year-old beat Pembroke, who finished fifth behind Inthepocket at Aintree’s Top Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1) and has to be taken seriously dropping into this Class 2.

There are lots of unexposed and decent hurdlers in this so will need to find that little bit extra being the top-weight.

But at just five-years-old looks the most likely to progress into a prominent hurdler with this being a big chance to show that.

Newmarket betting tips

2.25: Leap Abroad (to place) & e/w at 11/1

Leap Abroad coped with an 8lb rise from his huge Pontefract win to come first here in June, but hasn’t been seen since.

He was also gelded in September and could still be improving in the Middleham Park colours for trainer Paul & Oliver Cole.

300 day absence might put some off but he’s won off smaller breaks before.

The market appears to be a good judge at Newmarket this year and if he’s hammered in, it’s probably still worth following in.

Mohammed Tabti is the usual rider and still takes off 7lb as he has done in Leap Abroad’s previous six straight runs.

3.00: Bold Act 10/3

Won here twice before and this listed race sees this 103-rated horse take on, on an even weight, some inexperienced horses.

William Buick and Charlie Appleby combine once more in the colours of Godolphin which often mark success on the flat.

Bold Act has won four of his five races under rules only missing out on debut here in July 2022.

Intinso and Canberra Legend could be a threat with one run each – and they could be well-weighted to act here, but this course and general form must help the three-year-old’s case.

Canberra Legend also holds an entry into the Group 3 Craven, the festival’s namesake.
