LIBERTY LANE looks a big price for the Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket on Saturday (3.40).
Karl Burke is having the season of his life and this three-year-old looks to be coming to the boil nicely at the right time.
We only saw him once as a juvenile when winning a back-end maiden at Nottingham without breaking sweat.
He kicked off this season with a close second at Newmarket before being pitched in to Group 2 level for the Dante at York in May.
He found the firm ground much too lively there and it was a similar story at Royal Ascot where he still looked green in the Golden Gates Handicap.
Some ease in the ground is clearly the key with this son of Teofilo who looked more like it when finishing a close-up fourth in hot company at Newmarket.
His tendency to pull early in races had been against him but there was no sign of that at Doncaster last time where he settled much better before winning a big-field contest.
What was particularly encouraging was the way he travelled and hit the front two furlongs out.
He was headed by Sonny Liston before battling back to win on the nod.
Moving up a furlong from that mile should be ideal and the big field will give him the strong pace he needs to settle early on.
He is clearly a more mature horse now and he still gets to run off his last mark of 97 despite that battling victory.

The only thing that would improve confidence would be a splash of rain at Newmarket to keep the going no quicker than good - and you might want to take a slightly shorter price but each-way.
