Sanjay Raut Says 'Cricket Today Is Gambling'

Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday sparked a row after he implied that the India vs Pakistan World Cup match was fixed. India won the World Cup match by 7 wickets on Saturday. However, Sanjay Raut said the "match was decided", objecting to the welcome received by the neighbouring team in India.

Commenting on the match, Raut said, "The way Pakistani team was welcomed, the result of the match was decided then itself.. today's cricket is a big gambling and betting is going on.. will not comment on it.. If other state would have welcomed Pakistani team in similar manner, then BJP would have raised objection.. cricket today is gambling."

After Team India's spectacular win at the World Cup match, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Men in Blue and posted on X, "I congratulate Team India on this historic victory."

Reacting to PM Modi's tweet, Sanjay Raut said, "See, team India has defeated Pakistan it is correct.. but you want to take credit of team India then defeat China who has entered Ladakh. Calling Pakistan here and defeating them is very easy these days.. it is clear fixing and everything is fixed. If you really want to show your strength of team India.. Mr. Modi then go and push back China from Ladakh, Leh and Arunachal Pradesh and then do your celebrations."

In the India vs Pakistan match on Saturday, Shreyas Iyer smashed a massive four to take India to its 8th World Cup victory against Pakistan by 7 wickets. With this massive win, India has de-throned New Zealand from the top of the ICC World Cup 2023 points table to become the number 1.
