The four-day spectacular kicks off on Tuesday March 14, and features upwards of 350 horses competing in 28 races, 15 of which are Grade 1’s, watched on by an average daily attendance of 65,000 racegoers with millions more tuning in.

Weatherbys started producing a detailed Guide to the Cheltenham Festival 24 years ago and highlighted 33 horses that won or placed in their respective races 12 months ago.

They included big race winners Constitution Hill (9/4) in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, Flooring Porter (4/1) in the Stayers’ Hurdle and banker of the week Elimay (9/4) Mares’ Chase, as well as highlighting placed horses to back at big prices. Bell Ex One (28/1) in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, Fastorslow (18/1) in the Coral Cup, Stolen Silver (18/1) in the Plate Handicap Chase, Epatante (16/1) in the Champion Hurdle and Gericault Roque (9/1) in the Ultima Handicap Chase were all highlighted by the trends in the book.

The trends also threw up the 1-2-3 in the Triumph Hurdle, with the shortlist consisting of winner Vauban, narrow second Fil Dor and third Pied Piper.

The 2023 Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Guide has just been released and is written again by respected racing expert Paul Ferguson and esteemed guest authors Graham Cunningham, Rory Delargy, Donn McClean, Jess Stafford and Sam Turner.
