Weingarten: Baseball futures bets in light of a shortened season
The start of the Major League baseball season has been delayed indefinitely. There is a prospect of a prolonged lockout. An expanded playoff between 12 and 14 teams would benefit management. It would also give teams with rotations like the Mets significant advantages. A season of 100 or fewer games is still on the table. I have made some division bets that will have lower odds in a shortened season. i.e. division betters that I think will be less profitable.
Baltimore O's are one year away from being one of the best teams in the league. Carlos Correa and Adley Rutschman will give the O’s a boost on offense.
Washington Nationals are 50/1 to win the NL East. The Nats' bullpen remains a weakness. Juan Soto will be healthy in 2022. The Marlins are 11/2 to be the winner.
There is no Major League baseball, but there are minor league baseballs. The AAA season starts in early April. Baseball is still played at professional levels around the world.
