Why Can't I Bet on UFC?

There are some restrictions on betting on UFC. It can be confusing for people who are not plugged into the behind-the-scenes of the MMA world.

Darrick Minner was scheduled to fight Shayilan Nuerdanbieke at UFC Vegas 64. The odds on Miner nearly doubled on the day of the fight. Miners coach, former UFC fighter James Krause, was in his corner for the match. Kraus runs a podcast and a Discord channel giving advice about UFC and MMA gambling.

James Krause was under investigation for his involvement in the death of Kevin Minner. He was scheduled to corner Miles Johns in a UFC match two weeks later, but he was barred from the arena. New Jersey banned all sportsbooks from taking bets on UFC fights involving Krauses' fighters. Ontario and Alberta followed suit and banned the UFC.

James Krause and his fighters were banned from competing by the UFC. Krauses has been seen at his gym and with other coaches. Sports gambling is not available in some jurisdictions. It is likely to be available by first UFC card of 2023.

James Krause cannot train or corner UFC fighters pending the outcome of a government investigation.
