NFL Wild Card Weekend playoff specials predictions

Tyreek Hill and CeeDee Lamb to combine for 250-plus receiving yards (+250 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

CeeDee Lamb is only one week removed from incredibly coming close to cashing the Over on this prop by himself while erupting for 227 receiving yards against the Detroit Lions. That was one of his four games in 2023-24 with 150-plus yards, a mark Tyreek Hill hit five times, including his own explosion in Week 1 with 215 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Projections favor the two being productive and finishing with 90-plus receiving yards, with Lamb getting the highest projected total of all Wild Card Weekend pass-catchers through NumberFire at 102.9. That means to clear this number, one of the two will likely need to connect on a home run swing, which has been happening frequently.

Lamb has recorded a 40-plus yard reception in two of his last three games, including a 92-yard bomb against Detroit. More impressively, both wideouts ranked in the top-10 leaguewide in 30-plus yard catches, with Hill leading the way after notching 14 during the regular season.

Jalen Carter and Will Anderson Jr. to both record 0.5 sacks (+600 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

These standout pass-rushers are the leading contenders in our Defensive Rookie of the Year odds. And both will get the opportunity to tee off on middling pass-protecting offensive lines that allowed 40-plus sacks during the regular season.

Anderson is salivating that much more while going up against a Cleveland Browns unit that ranked 21st while giving up 46 sacks. And despite Joe Flacco suddenly morphing into the 2013 version of himself, the soon-to-be 39-year-old isn't exactly a threatening athletic presence. The Chicago Bears finished with the league's second-worst pass rush at 30 sacks, and yet they took Flacco down four times in Week 15.

Combine that with Anderson's recent effectiveness that includes two sacks, three quarterback hits, and two tackles for a loss since returning from an injury in Week 17, and it's easy to get excited about his side of this wager.

Carter has also flashed again after a midseason dip, notching two sacks over his last four games. He'll get to chase around Baker Mayfield, who's been susceptible to pressure, especially during the second half of the season. That stretch included six multi-sack games for Mayfield, and two outings with five-plus sacks taken.

No touchdown to be scored in a game (+2500 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐

For those who don't enjoy bundling up in layers to venture beyond their front door, much of January is spent taking in the great indoors when you live in the northern regions where the icy grip of winter is ever-present.

But football in Buffalo is always an outdoor adventure for all involved, and as our C. Jackson Cowart noted in his Bills-Steelers prediction for their Wild Card Weekend clash, the weather is expected to be downright treacherous in Buffalo. The forecast is so bad that the total for the game on Sunday afternoon has quickly plunged, going from an opener of 42.5 to around 36 at most of our best sportsbooks.

A band of lake-effect snow is forecasted to be near Highmark Stadium. More crucial for the passing game, severe winds are anticipated.

Sure, both teams involved are accustomed to difficult weather, and especially the Bills. But that experience only gets a club so far when the fury of Mother Nature is truly cranked up.

The forecast alone makes this special the ideal long-shot play. It's well worth a small wager given the possibility of snow-globe conditions and the appealing price offered.
