Washington State plays Fresno State in the LA Bowl.

The 2022 college football bowl season kicked off on Friday, Dec. 16. Saturday's schedule is stacked with six bowl games. Deion Sanders will be coaching his last game at Jackson State before heading to Colorado. The Tigers take on NC Central in the Celebration Bowl. The College Football Playoff National Championship takes place on Monday, Jan. 9. It will crown a national champion for the 2022 season.

Washington State plays Fresno State in the LA Bowl. The New Mexico Bowl features BYU vs. SMU at 7:30 p.m. and Boise State vs North Texas at 9:15 p.,m., respectively.

No. 14 Oregon State beat Florida 30-3 in the Las Vegas Bowl. It's just the third time the Beavers have finished with 10 wins in a season. Florida's field goal with 37 seconds left preserved the program's FBS-leading streak of consecutive games with a score. Florida has been without a shutout since 1988. Washington State plays Fresno State in LA Bowl on Saturday. The game will be played in Los Angeles. There will also be a game between Washington and Fresno. California won the last one. They won it in 2000.

Deion Sanders loses his last game as the coach of the Tigers. NC Central beats Jackson State 41-34 in the Celebration Bowl. Travis Hunter, the former No. 1 overall recruit from the 2022 class, made a spectacular catch with no time remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime.

Florida will wear helmet decals for Saturday's game against Oregon State honoring Mississippi State coach Mike Leach.

Louisville beat Cincinnati 24-7 in the Fenway Bowl. Louisville's offense ran for 286 yards and two touchdowns. Maurice Turner was the team's leading rusher with 160 yards. The Cardinals' defense held Cincinnati to 138 yards of offense and seven sacks. Cincinnati's quarterback Evan Prater completed only seven of his 15 passes for 83 yards, and his touchdown pass came while he was being dragged to the ground.

No. 24 Troy beats No. 25 UTSA 18-12 in Cure Bowl. It is the 11th straight win for Troy. It's the third-longest winning streak in the nation behind Georgia and Michigan. Washington State plays Fresno State in LA Bowl on December 28th. The game is a Group of Five bowl.

UAB beat Miami (OH) 24-20 in the Bahamas Bowl. The Blazers defense stopped Miami's Jalen Walker at the 2-yard line. It was the last game of interim coach Bryant Vincent, who took over the team following Bill Clark's retirement in July. UAB's star running back, DeWayne McBride, was injured and didn't play. Jermaine Brown was a star for the Blazers. He had a 24 carries, 116 yards and two touchdowns. Miami had two touchdown passes from Aveon Smith. Trent Dilfer, Uab's next head coach, watched the game from the sidelines.

Miami will honor Mike Leach with a helmet decal in today's Bahamas Bowl. Miami and UAB will play in the first game of the 2022-23 bowl season.
