The Ole Miss Rebels come into the 2023 college football season with high hopes of getting into the upper echelon of the SEC. Unfortunately, the Rebels struggled over the last part of the year and fell out of National Championship contention. The Rebels do have a ton of experience returning from last year to go along with a top tier recruiting class and several new faces through the transfer portal. Lane Kiffin has already turned the program around since his arrival to the team and will look to continue to climb that ladder this season.

Much like a ton of teams around the country Ole Miss will be filling voids from a year ago. The Rebels had several offensive players find their way into the NFL but a stud running back, and several new faces will carry the load for the Rebels. Running back Quinshon Judkins will be in the backfield again this year after more than 1500 yards rushing in 16 scores last season. Ole Miss added several new receivers including Louisiana Tech transfer Tre Harris who was expected to make an immediate impact for the Rebels offense.

The Ole Miss defense is the biggest question coming into 2023 after a mediocre season a year ago saw them fall from promise in the second half. The defensive line will have to be better this season adding pressure to opposing team’s offenses to allow the linebackers and defensive backs to make plays. The Ole Miss linebackers are a solid group that will cause disruption in the passing game and stifle a running game. The defensive backs will see several new faces through the transfer portal that should beef up that side of the ball making the Rebels a better team than that of a year ago.

Lane Kiffin has had his work cut out for him since arriving on campus at Ole Miss but seems to get better yearly. This year the Rebels come into the season as a predicted top 25 team after scoring in the transfer portal and in the recruiting class. The Rebels do have an extremely tough schedule that will be like running a gauntlet this year but can come out in a good spot.
