2023 Queen Anne Stakes Result and Replay

King Charles III was in attendance on day one of Royal Ascot to see the winner of the Queen Anne Stakes crowned.

Charlie Appleby's Lockinge Stakes winner, Modern Games rivaled Frankie Dettori's mount, Inspiral for Queen Anne Stakes favouritism before the off. A second Godolphin runner, Native Trail was also popular in the betting in the build-up to Tuesday's opener.

Chindit and Mutasaabeq also came in for support, despite being beaten by Modern Games in the Lockinge. Ralph Beckett's outsider, Angel Bleu was backed into 40/1 before the starter got Royal Ascot 2023 underway.

Although the field initially split into two separate groups, most of the runners tracked over to the group along the inside. Light Infantry made the running in the main pack, with Triple Time pulling hard down the centre of the track.

Modern Games and Native Trail were held up in the middle of the pack. Frankie Dettori took his time with Inspiral at the rear, alongside Mutasaabeq, who had been expected to make the running.

With two furlongs to travel, Dettori angled Inspiral towards the inside and John Gosden's filly started to make up some ground. As rival after rival behind him came off the bridle, Triple Time kept going at the head of the field and try as she might, Inspiral couldn't quite bridge the gap.

Neil Callan punched the air as Triple Time crossed the line. Kevin Ryan has always spoke incredibly highly of this son of Frankel, so to see his star claim Group One glory on his first start at the highest level would have been an emotional moment for the usually understated trainer.

Inspiral finished second behind the surprise 33/1 winner. Light Infantry plugged on to finish third ahead of Modern Games, on rain-softened ground which might not have suited the beaten favourite.
