On a day where the 2023 NBA Draft would normally take center stage, a couple of massive trades and how they may impact 2024 NBA Finals odds are the topics of conversation in many basketball circles.

With the Celtics adding Kristaps Porzingis and the Warriors trading for future Hall of famer Chris Paul, next season’s NBA championship odds have been shaken up a bit.

2024 Boston Celtics odds: Are C’s now favored to win NBA title?

The first big move of the day came when the Boston Celtics acquired Latvian big man Kristaps Porzingis from the Wizards to put alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

As of a week ago, Boston’s 2024 NBA Finals odds were second only to the champions Denver Nuggets, sitting at +550 at Caesars.

The line is now +500 at Caesars, showing a slight decrease since the news. Some sportsbooks (such as FanDuel) have this at a lower number, making Boston favored over Denver for next season’s title.

It’s a salary dump for Washington, who gets Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala from Boston.

Also going the other way from Boston in the deal was beloved point guard Marcus Smart, who winds up in Memphis in this three-team deal.

The Grizzlies are also sending a pair of first round picks to Boston in 2023 and 2024, while Washington gets a 2023 second-round pick from Boston.

2024 NBA Finals odds: Did Warriors odds change after CP3 joined Curry & Co.?

Some more big names changed area codes on Thursday, with shockwaves being sent through the league as Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul was dealt to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for Jordan Poole and draft assets.

Golden State’s NBA championship odds were around +1300 following the 2023 NBA Finals and while some sites have shrunk that number, Caesars is holding strong while other sites have +1200 as their number.

The Warriors are sending Poole to Washington along with a protected 2030 first-round pick and a 2027 second-rounder.

Poole emerged as a major player in the Warriors' fourth championship in eight seasons in 2021-22 and the Wizards are likely to try and build around him.

Paul had been traded by Phoenix to Washington in the Bradley Beal deal, but he finds the next team he’ll play for up in San Francisco alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

CP3 is one of, if not the most accomplished current player without a championship, and this certainly looks to be his final shot at a ring.

But with the Nuggets, Lakers and Suns to compete with in the West, that isn’t a guarantee to happen.

2024 NBA Finals odds: Nuggets and Celtics favored across the board

According to Caesars NBA odds, here’s what the lines are for the favorites to win the title in 2024:

  • Denver Nuggets +450
  • Boston Celtics +500
  • Milwaukee Bucks +700
  • Phoenix Suns +700
  • Los Angeles Lakers +1100
  • Philadelphia 76ers +1200

While some NBA betting sites have Denver at the top and others have Boston, all are in agreement that those two teams are the ones with the best chances to win next year’s title at this point.
