Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks Enter Season As NBA Championship Favorites At Sportsbooks

The Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks are the early favorites to win the NBA title at sportsbooks across the country.

Many sportsbooks have the Celtics and Bucks as equal favorites, however Caesars Sportsbook lists Boston as the slight favorite with odds of +380, followed by Milwaukee at +400. The Phoenix Suns (+600) and Golden State Warriors (+850) are the other teams having single-digit odds to begin the season at Caesars Sportsbook, followed by the defending champion Denver Nuggets (+420).

The NBA Cup is the first in-season event, and the favorites are the Celtics and Bucks, who both rebuilt their backcourts in the winter. Veteran guard Jrue Holiday was added by Boston, and superstar Damian Lillard was acquired by Milwaukee in order to play alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo.

To win the title, the Nuggets drew the greatest and most bets throughout the offseason, according to Caesars Sportsbook, which recorded accepting a $30,000 wager on Denver at 4-1 odds from a Nevada bettor that would pay out a net $120,000.

The most backing from gamblers at sportsbooks FanDuel and the SuperBook has gone to the Los Angeles Lakers, who are about 11-1 to win the championship. The Miami Heat are 22-1, and the LA Clippers are 18-1.

With odds of 500-1 at Caesars Sportsbook, the Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, and Portland Trail Blazers are the largest long shots.

The favorite to earn regular-season MVP is Nikola Jokic of the Nuggets (3-1), followed by Antetokounmpo (6-1) and Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic (11-2).

The #1 choice in the draft, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs, is the overwhelming favorite to win Rookie of the Year with -150 odds. According to the betting database SportsOddsHistory.com, Wembanyama is the first player since Kevin Durant in 2007–08 to be the clear favorite to win Rookie of the Year.

The Warriors and Nuggets will face the Suns and Lakers, respectively, to kick off the season on Tuesday.
