9 races will be held at Happy Valley tonight with the “C+3” Course in use.

This circuit is very tricky to break down as its tight dimensions mean you need to be in a forward position to have a good chance of success.

There are expected to be a few showers during the races in Hong Kong, but the drainage system of Happy Valley is one of the best in the world. This means the track should play fast as usual.

The 9-racecard today at the city circuit is quite wide open and it would be smart for punters to look for some outsiders.

Happy Valley Race 3 #9 Momentum Galaxy $15.00

Momentum Galaxy is a 7YO trained by Jimmy Ting.

His past results have been a bit underwhelming and as a result races at a rating of 50.

He now strikes a moderate field and with close to minimal weight can bounce back.

This The Factor gelding is a 3-time winner over the 1000m at Happy Valley and he loves the city circuit.

Derek Leung has a great relationship with the horse and often gets the best out of him.

He ran an eye-catching 5th last time out in a strong field and both the winner G One Excellent and 3rd placed Chevel Valiant won on their next start.

While the last time 2nd Atomic Energy is in the same race today, Momentum Galaxy will enjoy a weight swing in his favour.

Happy Valley Race 7 #2 California Cible $3.70

California Cible is going to have his 10th start in Hong Kong tonight.

He is a lightly-raced 5YO as he has had some setbacks as a youngster, but now firing on all cylinders.

He returned to the track in December after a year spell and is set to peak here.

Last start it was a solid 3rd with Angus Chung on board, he was beaten by the in-form Howdeepisyourlove and Majestic Knight.

Hugh Bowman takes the ride this time and although there is no weight allowance for the horse, he is big and strong enough to handle the 133 pounds and return back to the winner’s circle.

Happy Valley Race 3 #5 Atomic Energy $3.40

An open race but I like the chances of Atomic Energy for Tony Cruz.

The son of Sooboog showed little on debut but improved big time second-up, when fifth to Juneau Flash.

Two weeks later he picked up the silver over this course and distance in a decent race for the grade where the winner, G One Excellent and third placed, Cheval Valiant have both won next time.

The selection has bagged gate 2 and he can stalk the strong tempo that looks very likely.

Last start winner, Kowloon East Star made all last time and he looks like the main threat despite going up in grade.

Happy Valley Race 9 #5 Nordic Dragon $7.60

Nordic Dragon can win the finale for Danny Shum.

The son of Starspangledbanner won his first two starts in some style, going up 22Ib in the process.

He has been disappointing on his recent runs but the first was over 1400M (and from barrier 12) and his latest was again from the widest gate.

Vincent Ho jumps off Nordic Dragon to continue his winning association with Allgreektome, a massive danger, but we get an excellent replacement in Hugh Bowman and the selection can return to the winner's circle.
