Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Houston Astros in the World Series. They won Game 1 but lost the next three games. The team needs to improve several areas to be a serious contender in future. The changes they need to make are: improve the pitching, improve their defense and improve on their offense. It is the team's first World Championship since 2009. This was their first time in playoffs since 2011.
The Phillies had the worst ERA (3.97) and the 15th-worst opponent batting average (245) through the regular season. They gave up the 11th most walks (463) with the fifth-most homers (150). Their lineup carried them in the postseason. Their pitching wasn't spectacular, but their lineup far outweighs their rotation and especially their bullpen.
