5 athletes in Iowa college sports betting scandal reach plea deals

At least for legal charges, five players in the Iowa college sports betting scandal have reached plea deals for underage gambling, per USA TODAY.

Iowa State quarterback Hunter Dekkers and linemen Jacob Remsberg and Dodge Sauser, as well as Iowa kicker Aaron Blom and baseball player Gehrig Christensen all had charges of tampering with records in the investigation dismissed as part of their guilty pleas.

The five athletes will pay $645 fines each for underage gambling and will reportedly not face any future criminal charges for their roles in the gambling scandal.

However, it’s unlikely any of them will take the field anytime soon for their respective teams with NCAA penalties still on the table.
