5 craziest things that happened in the UFC this year

This year has been a memorable one for the UFC. Conor McGregor and Jon Jones are expected to return next year. Khamzat Chimaev and Paddy Pimblett have emerged as potential PPV stars.

Khamzat Chimaev missed weight by seven and a half pounds before UFC 279. He was scheduled to face Nate Diaz in the main event. Now he's fighting Kevin Holland in a catchweight bout.  

Nate Diaz's victory over Tony Ferguson was the first time a UFC fighter had submitted him. The winner was Khamzat Chimaev. He choked out Ferguson with 2:09 minutes left on the clock in the fourth round.

Jiří Procházka defeated Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. It was ProCha's first title fight in the promotion. The fight was considered a typical striker versus grappler clash. Procha won the fight by rear naked choke.   It is one of the craziest things that happened in UFC this year.

Alexander Volkanovski is the new P4P champion in the UFC. Kamaru Usman was the previous P2P holder in UFC, but he lost to Leon Edwards at UFC 278. Charles Oliveira and Israel Adesanya also lost.

James Krause is a former fighter and a coach at Glory MMA. He has been accused of using insider information to place bets on his fighters' fights. The UFC revoked his cornering license and banned his players from fighting in the promotion. He was also forced to retire as a MMA coach. This is the biggest betting scandal in UFC history. It happened in a different MMA promotion than the UFC. Other promotions followed suit.
