Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz boxing bout set for August 5th

A boxing bout between YouTube sensation turned prizefighter, Jake Paul and former UFC star Nate Diaz and is officially set to go down on August 5th from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Fans can find access to tickets HERE.

Just about everyone had a feeling that these two were going to end up in a ring at some point once Diaz parted ways with the UFC, and they were correct! Most Valuable Promotions and Real Fight inc. are teaming up with DAZN to put on this PPV spectacle. The match will be held at 185-pounds, and is scheduled for eight rounds. The combatants will be using 10-ounce gloves, and you better believe that there will be betting odds.

Jake Paul (6-1, 4 KO’s) is looking to rebound after suffering his first career loss by way of a Tommy Fury split decision two months ago. After his first attempt at competing against a pure boxer, Paul is going back to dancing with the one that brought him… past-their-prime MMA fighters.

As for Nate Diaz, he is a rare gem that not only exited the UFC on a win, but also left the promotion with a major dub over UFC president Dana White. If you remember correctly, it was supposed to be the menacing Khamzat Chimaev to send Nate off into the real world. Unfortunately for Uncle Dana, Khamzat blew the weight cut, and Tony Ferguson was brought in at the last second to face Diaz. The MMA gods were looking out for the Stockton native that day, but I can’t help but wonder how they feel about Diaz vs. Paul in a boxing match.

Diaz won TUF Season 5 as a lightweight in 2007, and spent most of his career there. He had two different runs up at 170-pounds. First from 2010-2011, and then again for his first match with Conor McGregor until his UFC departure. It’s kind of hard to envision what a 185-pound Nate Diaz would even look like, but let’s just hope it’s nothing like middleweight Nick Diaz.
